Content Creator Starter Kit

Being a content creator requires many things including storytelling, knowing your audience, having the right equipment, knowing your angles, and many more. As a content creator and influencer, I have used many devices and softwares to create content over the years. Today, I want to share a few essential devices and softwares you need to become a content creator and start creating great content. While reading below, keep in mind that you may not need all of this equipment. You only need the right equipment that fits your role as a content creator.

iPhone 14 Pro Max

If you want to quickly start making great content, then your phone will always be your best friend. It is a device that you always carry with you. It's not as bulky as a camera, which makes it easier to carry around vs. a camera. I strongly believe iPhones have better camera quality than androids. Sorry to all of my Android users out there. I have used both, but something about Apple gets it right every time. I prefer iPhone 14 pro max or an iPhone 15. These devices were released within the last 2 years, and the camera quality and capabilities are much better than any older iPhone.

DJI Osmo Mobile 6 Gimbal Stabilizer

For all of my social media managers and content creators, this device is for you. Most of the time I find myself shooting social media video content on my phone. Sometimes the video doesn't appear to be stable, so I invested in the DJI Osmo Mobile 6 Gimble Stabilizer. This has been my favorite purchased device ever. That is big statement to claim; however, it is no over statement. As previously stated, I shoot most of my content on my phone, and this makes shooting video content so much easier. Check out this video to see how the device works.

Sony ZV- E10 Mirrorless Camera

If you want to create video content for YouTube or you want your Instagram photos and reels to be more high-quality while also not breaking the bank, then the Sony ZV-E10 is for you. I love this camera because it's very compact, and I can fit it my purse easily. You can also interchange the kit lens, which can further increase the image quality.

SENSYNE 62" Phone Tripod and Selfie Stick

Every type of content creator needs a tripod. If you're shooting stationary content or if you're shooting solo, then you need a tripod. The type of tripod you need depends on the camera equipment you shoot with. If you are shooting with a camera majority of the time, then I would suggest a heavy duty tripod to withold the weight of various types of camera equipment. If you shoot with your phone majority of the time, then a basic tripod like the one pictured here will do you just fine.

Sigma 24- 70mm F2.8 DG DN Art for Sony E Lens

If you create content using a camera, then I recommend the Sigma 24-70mm lens. I've always heard most photographers recommend this lens because of the versatility. It's a bit pricey, but if you have the funds then it is a purchase that is well-worth it.

Lume Cube Bicolor Panel

When creating content, your equipment matters; however, the lighting is just as important as the equipment. Natural lighting is always the preferred route for lighting. Although, if you don't have access to natural lighting during the time of shooting, then I'd recommend some time of mini panel light for on the go. I have the Lume cube panel light pictured here. I love it because you can also attach it to your camera. There are others that you can attach to your phone. I'm sure you may have seen them on Tik Tok.

NEEWER Ring Light 18inch

If you are shooting stationary content in a space where you don't have access to natural light, then I would recommend a ring light. It provides more lighting than the panel light mentioned above that is generally used for on the go. I use the Neewer 18 inch but there are plenty other options out there.

Nartoup Wireless Microphone

If you don't have a mic, then you need to get your hands on one. It can really transform the audio quality for voice overlays when creating video content. There are many options out there, but I found this set on Amazon for $18.
