Summer 2019 Favorites

Sweet Summer time! I cannot believe the summer heat is finally here. I love the summer time because it mean it's time to get the bikinis out and get our bronze goddess look going on! Since the summer season is here, I thought it would be the perfect time to share with you guys a few of my favorite summer time beauty products including makeup, skincare, and other random favorites.

So let's start with skincare first. I'm not going to go through my entire skincare routine, but I did want to share with you guys a few staple products that I use.

1. Neotrogena Hydrating Serum

Neutrogena recently came out with a new line of skincare products, and I tried a few of the products This bad boy right here caught my eye. This product is so moisturizing for the skin and it really gives your face a dewy look. This can be used as a moisturizer after you cleanse your face, but it can also be used as a hydrating primer. I keep this in my makeup kit and use it on my clients. This product retails for about $15 at your local drugstore.

2. Mario Badescu Facial Spray

In the summer time, your skin needs all of the hydration it can get since the sun's rays can be so drying on the skin. I love the Mario Badescu facial spray as a refreshing mist for the face at any point in the day. This product is really good to keep in your on-the-go makeup bag. I also like using this spray as a hydrating primer as well as a setting spray. This product retails for only $5 at Ulta, Sephora, & Nordstrom.

Quick tip: If you go throughout the day and notice your makeup is starting to crease or cake up, just spray a few pumps of this facial spray and take a small sponge and blot your makeup. This small step can transform your makeup back to looking fresh!

3. Buff City Soap's Activated Charcoal Cleansing Bar

Bluff City Soap is a local shop here in Memphis, TN where I get most of my skincare products. They make all of their products in house, and everything is paraben-free, gluten-free, & vegan. I discovered this product recently at one of their blogger events, and I'm so in love!!I think this product may be my favorite skincare product that I'm sharing with you guys. This activated charcoal cleansing bar, has helped me so much with my acne breakouts. This cleansing bar dries every breakout right up. You do have to make sure you moiturize heavily after becasue it can dry your skin out. I use this twice a day, and it retails for $12 at Bluff City Soap

4. Buff City Soap's Toner

In the summer time, we all want to achieve that no makeup look with dewy and bronzey skin. In order to achieve this look, you have to have really great skin, and this toner has helped me out with that! I've never really used a toner in my skincare routine until now, and I've definitely noticed the scarring and hyper-pigmentation on my face has brightened up and just made my skin look really smooth and seamless. This product retails for $9.

5. Simple Water Boost Micellar Cleansing Water

In the past, I have always just used makeup wipes to clean off my makeup and then proceeded with my skincare routine. However, recently I bought some of Simple's water boost micellar cleansing water, and it really helps to get all of the remaining dirt off of my face before my skincare routine all while hydrating my skin. This product is amazing, and it retails for $8

So now that skincare is out of the way, I want to jump into a few of my favorite makeup products right now.

1. NYX Born to Glow Liquid Highlighter

I know you've heard me say it enough, but I love dewy skin in the summer time! The NYX born to glow liquid highlighter really illuminates the skin and gives it a natural glow. Product retails for $6

Quick Tip: I apply this product right after primer and right before foundation to the high points of the face such as cheekbones, temple, and chin.

2. Tatcha Silk Canvas Protective Primer

Recently, one of my clients introduced me to this face primer by Tatcha, and I have never been so in love with how a primer smoothes the pores and skin. "Pore Professional" by Benefit and Smashbox "Photofocus" primer has nothing on this one! If you have huge pores and have trouble smoothing them, then try out this primer I promise you won't regret it! The small container retails for $22, and the big container retails for $52.

3. Kaleidoscope Skinblush

I love blush and I love highlighter, but I have never had a product to give me both highlighter and blush at the same time until this baby right here! I received this product recently in my ipsy bag, and I was very intrigued. I tried it and I love it. I can accomplish two makeup steps with one product, and it's so awesome! This product retails for $8.

4. DermaBlend Flawless Creator Foundation Drops

I am a makeup artist, so of course I tend to wear more full coverage foundations. However, I'm sure we al have experienced those full coverage foundations that feel really heavy and cakey on the face. Well I recently discovered the Dermablend Flawless Creator Foundation Drops, and I have never seen anything like it. This foundation is so full coverage but lightweight at the same time. It covers acne breakouts and hyperpigmentation but doesn't feel like you have MAC foundation all over your face if you know what I mean ha. This item retails for $40.

5. Tarte Maracuja Oil

I love the Tarte Maracuja oil because it also gives a nice glow to the face. You can use this is as a moisturizer, but you can also use it as a hydrating primer. This product retails for about $46, but it's totally worth it!

Quick Tip: What I like to do most with this face oil is to put 1-2 drops in my foundation or client's foundation, and it just gives the skin even more of a natural-looking glow.

Now I'm going to mention a few random favs of mine!

1. "Fantasy" perfume by Brittney Spears

When it comes to fragrances, I've always really liked sweet smells. And there's nothing like smelling really good and sweet during the sweet summer time! This perfume by Brittney Spears is the perfect concoction for sweet meets musk. Some sweet-smelling perfumes can seem kiddish, but this fragrance is the perfect blend of sweet and grown woman sexy. This perfume retails for $57.

2. "Lovely" by Sarah Jessica Parker

I had to share another fragrance because I have been on a kick lately for buying perfumes. This perfume was shipped to me in one of my ipsy bags, and I'm so in love and Patrick loves it too! It's more of a mature modern smell but not too musky.

This perfume retails for $30, which is such a good deal.

3. Cantu Shea Butter Comeback Curl Enhancer

In the summer time, I do like to wear my natural curls a lot. I only wash my hair twice a day, but I need moisture in my hair everyday. So what do I do for my daily hair routine? I use water and this comeback curl enhancer spray by Cantu. I always sleep in a satin cap at night, and when I wake up the next morning I give my curls a little refresh with a little bit of water and this spray. I scrunch my hair a little after water and the spray is applied. This product retails for $6 at your local drugstore.

4. Amazing Lace Wishing Gold Rhinestone Belt

The sun is beaming during the summer months, and there's nothing that shines brighter than rhinestones in the summer sun! I recently bought this rhinestone belt from a local boutique here in Memphis called Amazing Lace, and I cannot stop wearing it. You can wear this belt over your bikini or one-piece, with some blue jean shorts, or over a jumper. It retails for $28.

I hope you enjoyed this post, and I hope you discovered some hidden treasures that you've never tried while you were reading it! If you have any hidden beauty gems that you would like to share, then feel free to leave them in the comment section below.
